The chapter's President, Alton Colvin, said that the Sigmas selected Ghana as its table's theme because that nation's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was a member of Phi Beta Sigma and because the Fraternity recently had a new school built in Okrase, Ghana. The Sigma's table also had information about Adinkra symbols, which could be found in the displayed shirts from Ghana, as well as a bowl carved by a Ghanaian made from calabash (a type of gourd). Adinkra refers to decorative symbols used in Ghanaian art that capture the essence of a Ghanaian Proverb.

The Brothers of the Beta Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at the University of North Alabama gave their time and energy for a community clean-up. The area targeted was between Helen Keller Hospital and Northwest Shoals Community College. Seven bags of trash along Avalon Avenue in Sheffield resulted. The opportunity came up to explain the reason for doing service to a gathering of youth. A travelor stopped by to say 'Thank you" for the service. The Project was performed on September 14, 2014 and on November 2, 2014.
On November 14, 2014, the Sigmas of UNA will serve at the Shoals Soup Kitchen in downtown Florence.

The Sigmas of UNA are very grateful to everyone who helped make Thursday, January 9, 2014 as a fantastic, meaningful, memorable day. This Day was very special for the Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma because it marked the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., at the campus of Howard University, by Honorable Brother A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Brother Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Brother Charles I. Brown, on January 9, 1914.
Fresh with the start of the Spring Semester, the Sigmas immediately got involved with a Winter Coat Drive campaign. A table was set up to receive coats, and the amount collected exceeded expectations, as around 30 garments were collected. We would like to say thank you to everyone who gave contributions, including the UNA Police Department.
Also on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, a Blue and White Wreath was placed at the Sigma Stone in the middle of campus and decorated.
On Thursday, January 9, 2014, the Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma hosted a Back-to-School Bash to celebrate the Centennial Anniversary with the rest of the student body at UNA. Over a hundred guests attended, including a Brother from the Iota Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at Mississippi State University. The venue was decorated with Blue and White Balloons, and a presentation Table of the Centennial Cake - a beautiful 3-tiered Cake that had our 3 Greek Letters on top, 3 Stars and a Dove at the middle level, and the Dates: 1914-2014 on the bottom level. The cake was prepared by the Victorian Tea Room of Muscle Shoals, AL. Music was provided by DJ-Keek. We would like to say thank you to ALL of fellow students who came, and also recognize in appreciation Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, for sharing the occasion together. We also would like to thank the Director of Greek Life at UNA, Julie Fletcher, for her encouragement and for visiting, and the University of North Alabama for allowing us to schedule the event on campus, for publicizing the Centennial, and for providing the bottles of drinks for everyone. We say "Thank You" to the UNA Florala for representing and taking photos.
We were honored to receive a Centennial Greeting to the Chapter from the International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Brother Jonathan Mason. We also say thank you to the Governor of Alabama, Robent Bentley, for his Proclamation that January 9, 2014 was PHI BETA SIGMA DAY in Alabama.
Once again, we express our gratitude to everyone who helped make our Centennial Anniversary a fantastic, meaningful, memorable day.

The Beta Beta Alpha Chapter celebrated the commencement of Brother AbdiKadir Hasan Mohamed on December 14, 2013. Brother Abdi earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Alabama (Florence, AL) with a double-major of Political Science and Criminal Justice, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. A native of Kenya, Brother Abdi was overjoyed to have his brother and sister-in-law fly from Kenya to attend his graduation. After the Ceremony, which featured an inspirational address by Lauren Manning, a surviver of the World Center Tragedy of 9/11, Abdi and his wife joined his family and his Sigma Brothers for a luncheon, and also at a reception hosted by Dr. Francis Koti. Following graduation, Brother Abdi, plans to move to Minnesota, and will be looking at options for Law School in Minnesota or Washington. Brother Abdi will always be remembered in BBA for being on the Line that brought Phi Beta Sigma as an official organization at the University of North Alabama. He served the Chapter as Treasurer, Academic Chair, and Intake Committee, and participated in service projects and State Leadershp Conference, and won multiple academic awards. We wish Brother Abdi all the best and say thanks for his contributions while at UNA.

The Zetas and the Sigmas of UNA presented their joint ZETA+SIGMA WEEK April 10-17, 2013. It began with a Steptease show at the GUC Student Center on Wednesday and featured a routine by Soror Kendra Thomas Mitchell, Soror Alieshia Morris, Brother De'Jhan Holland and Brother Alton Colvin. Thursday's $1 Bowling plan became cancelled because of serious storms that rolled through and caused some schools in Alabama to be dismissed early.
For the first time ever, a Hiphop Cypher Production was held at the UNA Amphitheatre on Friday and attracted some excellent talent. The performances were filmed and will become available in the future. Saturday was about having fun, and 40 participants came out to our "Blue Lagoon Cookout" by the water at McFarland Park along the Tennessee River. Although we didn't declare a Horseshoes Champion, several had fun just aiming for perfection, in a no-score format. On Sunday we were able to visit two local churches in Florence, and doubled our love for the Almighty.
Monday was a viewing of the Movie, "Belly" and was free for the UNA student body. Tuesday was an informal discussion forum, "Kitty Cat Chit Chat" led by our Sorors about relationships and committment. Wednesday was also led by our Zeta Sorors, as they arranged for Z-Fit Zumba Night at the UNA Student Recreation Center.
Were we done yet? OH NO !
On Thursday, several Brothers left town for a road-trip to Columbus, GA for the Southern Regional Conference of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Brother Loic Dimithe, Deondrick Orr, D'Lavante Gibson, and De'Jhan Holland made the trip and returned on Sunday. More information about the trip is forthcoming.
